I have been a Bally member since 2003. Canceling a membership requires a great deal of persistence. First, there is no online method. No way to cancel using your online member account. Second, the phone process takes the caller through a myriad of options leading to a cancellation option then a message indicating "extremely heavy flow of calls" and an "expected wait time of over 25 minutes". I gave up after 25 minutes and called back the next day. Again, same wait time. To put frosting on the cake, the Bally representatitive indicated that the only way to cancel was to put my cancellation request in writing!! This information was no where online or within the automated call routing process. So, after about 15 minutes of searching Bally's member area on their web site and almost an hour on hold, I have an address and need to type a letter and send it snail mail to Bally Total Fitness EFT Department PO Box 1090 Norwalk CA 09651. This, after spending $1,542.29 on Bally membership dues. Bally is very eager to create a new membership, but obviously punishes canceling members

They tried to pull this with me as well last summer. Stay persistent and keep pushing for the legal department.. thats what I had done and within 2 hours i had a refund (for the month) and cancelation confirmation electronically, verbally, and in writing.
