RUDE STAFF; Misleading Information; Lack of Integrity - what they say and what they DO has HUGE difference.

A letter from a very disappointed customer, who is baffled on Bally’s RUDE customer care staff! Today was the 4th call we made to your customer care number (866 402 ****) in regard for the below two Member ID’s: • 10204**** • 10204**** Our request was to get a refund on the total dollar amount that we paid for Personal trainer whose services we couldn’t avail for many reasons. Few are listed below. 1. Incompetent staff at your Fremont Location, who didn’t knew how to work with a person with Knee injury. 2. I had to undergo three trainer change before settling down with the one, I thought knows his subject. 3. Out of the 24 classes that I had enrolled for, I used only 3 classes. Had to stop because of my knee lock situation, which was clearly mentioned in the application form at the time of enrolling for the program. 4. There was NO communication from Bally’s about ownership transfer to 24 hours fitness 5. And, finally, I still have difficulty in my knee to continue with any kind of exercises, and my husband (who had enrolled for the 12 classes) had a motorcycle accident, because of which couldn’t use the training sessions. Our Agony: • On our first call, we were told, the support staff has opened a ticket to create a ‘special case’ and someone will be calling us back in 7-10 working days. NO ONE EVER CALLED or EMAILD • On our second call, we were told Bally has initiated the refund policy and the Support agent also gave the breakup of the amount that was refunded on our account. We insisted to have a reference number, but was told there is NO reference number, but the system should have this information against our account numbers. WE TRUSTED YOUR AGENT! • On our 3rd call, yet another support staff assured the refund is on its way, and it should be available on our account very soon. We were asked to monitor the Card statement to verify the refund amount. • Even after 2 weeks of monitoring account, when we didn’t see any kind of transaction from Bally’s, we called the Support number yet again – for the 4th time.. this morning, 2/27. • A agent named ‘Sera’ answered our call. Not only she was RUDE, she failed to provide the necessary answers regarding the refund that we were enquiring/expecting. • She narrated Baly’s refund policy, and refused to hear our point on the Special case that the Agent 1 (I believe his name was Jason) created on 2/5. • We insisted to speak to a person in authority and the girl named Sera told us, there is NO supervisor on the floor and hung the call on us. I am not sure how Bally operates, but such customer service and the way information has been miscommunicated to us, we feel it’s an harassment. It’s a mental harassment to call and get humiliated by a support agent and it’s a harassment to be given misleading information all this while. We would like you to take this complain seriously and provide us with immediate action plan as how you plan to compensate for all the loss that we have gone through. I expect to hear from you on this soon. Thanks Sanj

Bally Total Fitness - Employee Experience Review from Orland Park, Illinois

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Just a helpful note. I worked at Bally Total Fitness for 4 years in Corporate Sales before they went into bankruptcy and sold to LA Fitness. I workout at the clubs in Homer Glen, Mokena/Frankfort, Tinley Park and Orland Park. Your employees really need to be trained to be tuned to the client which they are not. In all of the clubs in the south suburbs I have gone your employees are not welcoming - all are on their cellphones, chatting with one another and don't even acknowledge or welcome their guest to the club. Sometimes none is even at the front desk - they are sitting in the office and could care less if a guest arrives. They eat, chat, drink, and are involved with everything else but the guest experience - they can't even expend themselves from their personal lives to tell you to have a great morning, afternoon, or evening upon leaving the club. Secondly, cleanliness standards are very poor. At Bally's maintenance and cleanliness was governed by corporate with inspections being done monthly by an assigned staff who would go and monitor the clubs. From what I have witnessed at by using the clubs I frequent - they are a mess showers are moldy, locker room floors are filthy and the lockers need to be wiped clean - needless to say most of the facilities need a cleaning throughout. With the competition in the Industry you need to place more emphasis on the client experience. Your rates are not that much lower than comparable clubs - and there is a lot of competition in this industry - get a grip train your staff to be more customer oriented thoroughly clean your clubs - or I can tell you your next to *** the bullet in the fitness industry.

I too have a Liberty membership since 87 I want to know if they're going to honor my renewal rate

Guest

I am a Life Time member and have been getting the run around as well. I am writing the Attorney General for my state to complain.

Guest

I too have been scammed by Bally Total Fitness in Englewood Cliffs. They took my renewal payment in October 2014 for the lifetime membership purchased back in 1985 however 24 Hour Fitness cannot locate my membership?

They were supposed to honor all membership contracts and presently cannot locate my membership?

So what happens to all the original lifetime Memberships originally purchased? I will also be contacting an Attorney shortly.

Do NOT sign a contract with Bally Total Fitness!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I never thought I could be so enraged by business' inconsiderate, unhelpful customer service. I paid in full for a 1-year membership, which I was ensured exempted me from being subject to membership cancellation fees, should I later choose to cancel my membership with Bally's Total Fitness. I met the conditions necessary to cancel my contact, seeing as my new residence was located more than 25 miles from any health club operated by the seller. However, canceling my membership has been an absolute nightmare. Even after meeting the conditions and receiving confirmation that my certified letter was delivered, I am still being charged weekly for personal training. Additionally, despite paying for my membership in full, I have also been charged a monthly $19.99 fee for my membership. I strongly advise anyone looking for a gym membership to avoid signing a contract with Bally Total Fitness. It's really a shame because the facility is great, the classes really work and you will see excellent results from personal training. However, the cons outweigh the pros for this gym, seeing as they have simply no regard for dealing with their customers and are only concerned with making as much money as possible.

Bally's Total Fitness Refuses to Refund

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
On Oct 8th I decided to renew my membership to Bally's and included my daughter for a total amount of 300.00. Due to a severe emergency, I decided to contact Bally's on Oct 10th to request a refund. The first representative tells me that she cannot do the refund because I have to do it within 3 day, and secondly she can only refund my portion for of the renewal for 100.00 and not my daughters (who is 12 years old and is not even allowed to attend the gym without my membership) of 200.00. Then she tells that she will have a manager contact me on Monday because none was available. After hanging up the phone upset, I noticed that I was still within my 3 days for a full refund and decided to call again. I get another rep, who decided to tell me that I do not qualify for any refund at all because I did a manual renewal as oppose to an automatic renewal, (in other words since i called Bally's requested a renewal and supplied them with a credit card, as oppose to the Automatic Billing System from Bally's to charge me) I do not get any type of refund. Therefore he reversed the 100.00 refund the first rep sent through, (which I have the confirmation number to prove of the refund). After talking and yelling and getting upset, not only was i not a getting any refund no manager was available to assist me, until IRONICALLY enough someone was available. I spoke to the manager (after there was supposedly none available to speak to me), and still he refused to give me a refund quoting that it was a manual charge and not automatic. Also that the first rep was misinformed on the cancellation policies that is why I am not eligible for any refund. Really!! I don't think it should matter how I paid for it, if i request to cancel membership after being a member with them for over 30 years I should be allowed to. My contract has been paid in full many years ago. All dues have been paid to Bally's I owe nothing, and I only renew when I am ready to go back yet they don't care. All they want is their money and this is not the first time I have had issues with them. Back in march of 2014 I was charged for membership twice without my consent and after calling consistently and getting charged overdraft with other bills I had set to be paid from my checking account was I eventually refunded the money. Bally's is a horrible corporation that does not care about its members just the money. I have sent them a letter, I have a trail of emails from them. And I keep getting the same response " as per agreement ***".... I requested to be shown a copy of the agreement and they want to charge me $20. I would love how they will pull my contract from 1993, and we are in 2014. I have already contact Capitol One Bank setup a dispute of charge. I have a case on them with the BBB of their headquarters in Washington, DC. I have contacted consumer affairs. I refuse to have them keep my $300. I need some type of assistance.

Double charged for membership and membership not active

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Initially in March 2014 I renewed my membership for 3 yrs. I received my credit card statement and got charged twice. I then called customer service but they could not resolved it as they only saw one charge, I then proceeded to dispute one of the charges with the credit card company. Bally cancelled my membership altogether even though there is one charge is remaining. Called customer service numberous times and sent letters with proof but still cant resolve 9 months later. The worst corporate office that does not care about their long term customers. I got cheated for $297.99 and will never join this club again.

Bally Total Fitness - Membership Review from Oakland, California

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was new to Bally fitness, at first they were great but than I got myself a trainer name Karina. I sign a contract for personal trainer which was expensive and what they did not mention me that I have to pay $300 every month when my trainer had no time at all and was busy. I remember tham telling me " if you don't like it at first month training let us know, but we will let you know when the first month ends". Nope they let me know with a "I own $700-1,000!!! ". I called the company and the owner from the gym and they all turn their back on me, my life has been miserable and finding a way to solve the problem. I try to cancel the membership but I was force to pay first! This is located at San Leandro Or San Lorenzo CA. Please don't sign the contract for personal trainer when they have no time at all and always lag on customers. Also they take advantage and money $$$.

Worst Bally gym!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been Bally total fitness for many years. The gym located at 86 st. in Brooklyn is the worst of all. I don't even remember any time that things were working properly there. Something always went wrong! The following list is only in lady's locker room. 1. It is filthy and dirty. 2. Four of the seven showers were out for months, they simply shut off the water supply, with no written signs! Soap is constantly running out. I had to shower in cold winter for at least 3 times, because no warning was posted until I worked out to find out that there was no hot water. No curtains on shower & private booths. 3. The only 2 hair dryers were out for a month. 4. Pools is constantly closed. My husband hates to go that place. Nobody seems to care!

Unauthorized charge to my credit card

When my membership was due for renewal in March 2014 I let it expire because the club near me was poorly run and even worth the $60 a year I was paying. In July I received an email and learned the my membership was still active and the had charged my credit card for he year. I called customer service and was told that since I renewed my membership in 2013 on line using a credit card I was enrolled in automatic renewal even though I never consented to it. The * on the renewal page for 2014 which I did not sign up for referred to the very small print if you scroll way way down the page to this automatic renewal. So I asked for proof that the same condition was on the 2013 renewal I signed . I was told there would be a $20 charge for my 2013 contract! Ballyfitness is a scam and should be avoided.

In may be past the time you're allowed to do so but if not, I'd dispute the charge with your credit card company.

Worst Gym Membership and Billing and Customer Service

I have had two Bally Fitness Memberships for 2 years. I regret renewing the memberships. I must have spent almost 48 hours on the phone waiting for customer service in the duration. The wait time is never less than 30 minutes. The agents follow a script and are profusely apologetic, but lack any script that leads them to resolve customer complaints. No bills or notifications - just charges one after the other on the credit card. I hate the experience so thoroughly that I will not renew a Bally's Membership even if I get a free year! PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!

This is a scam. You find out when you are trying to cancel your membership

The keep charging. They have no way to cancel charging even when your membership is cancelled. Read more in consumer affair . com They have no 800 human support, they have no USPS address to corresponf to them other than a PO BOX . Imaging sending them a letter there that then claim they never received it. The Englewood Cliffs NJ location shut down and they never notified me, no email, no USPS main, No phone call. They just vanished but they kept charging my Credit Card. When I finally got a humane on the phone she said that I should stay getting charged monthly until Bally's open another location but they don't know when. What getting charges when there is no facility at all to get the services I signed up with them? ONLY AT BALLY'S. I found out they are crooks the hard way. I am in the process terminating my account but based on horrible stories that I heard I am not sure how I am going to clear this mess up.

Short Review on September&nbs-04:00;03,&nbs-04:00;2014

I signed up in San Antonio but after graduation I relocated to the Midwest in Jan 2002. I went in to cancel and was told it'd be ok since there wasn't 5 Bally's where I am. So not true, I ended up with an (illegally) subpoena. Yes they dropped it off on in a apartment complex. So I never got it in person. I ended up forced to pay for service I had no access to in my area!

Worst customer service- they are rude

Its not the way they talk to the customers. He was just being so rude, they are not even listening to what we are saying. Iam no way suggesting anyone to join this. Its regarding the 3 month promotional offer they did. And now they are saying they have taken out this. Stupidest thing ever. 0.1 RATING OUT OF 10 And they are not ready to transfer a call to manager, saying that he is out. And will reach me anytime and tried to told him the timings which iam available, the agent is still not co-operating with me. ***, worst service.
